Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Bear sustained its supremacy at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange , as a result the equity market capitalization decreased by TZS 418.12 billion (about US$106 million) to end at TZS 21,881.99 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,300.11 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) slumped by 48.06 points or 1.89 percent to end at 2,548.23 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index remained flat to close at 4,589.00 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index remained unchanged at 2,909.49 points. Industrial & Allied sector index crashed by 2.41 points or 0.04 percent to close at 6,243.91 points and Commercial services sector index gained 16.74 points or 0.43 percent to end at 3,953.26.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 946.12 million from 1,191,571 shares traded in 65 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 2,401.22 million from 5,704,665 shares traded in 116 deals. CRDB had 162,815 shares traded in 25 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 5.711 shares in 2 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 2,356 shares in 6 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 15,230 shares traded in 8 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited traded 2,410 shares in 10 deals. Swissport Tanzania had 829 shares in 7 deals and TOL Gases Limited traded 1,000,000 shares 1 deal.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with 2 gainers and 6 losers. The gainers were Swissport Tanzania closed at TZS 7,350 after surging by 0.55 percent and Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited climbed by 1.32 percent to end at TZS 3,850
On the losers’ chart, Acacia Mining Limited emerged as the top losers by losing by 4.16 percent with a closing price of TZS 8,185. Other losers were East Africa Breweries Limited fell by 3.54 percent at TZS 5,730, KCB Group tumbled by 3.23 percent to trade at TZS 900 and Jubilee Holdings Limited closed at TZS 11,260 after reduction of 1.66 percent. National Media Group and Tanzania Breweries Limited plunged by 0.68 percent to end at TZS 3,645 and plummeted by 0.13 percent to settle at TZS 15,000 respectively.
